The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) announced recommendations in April 2020 to wear masks in public settings, at events and gatherings, and anywhere one will be around other people, especially in crowded places where the risk of person-to-person transmission of coronavirus is high. It's important to remember that homemade and hand-sewn face masks should be used in combination with appropriate social distancing and thorough hand-washing to decrease risk of acquiring the virus.
